Yesterday
we have visited three rural businesses. It has taken the whole day, but then we
were well prepared for today’s workshop. We had to solve problems, which the
business owners have told us. We had to draw some posters and present our
solution to the business owners. Our group had to search for possibilities,
which should bring more younger audience to a small village shop, called hopes
of Longtown. This business is a family run village store and post office. Our
suggestions were to start up a market. It could be a farmer market or a car
booth. A place where anybody can sell their
stuff, they don`t need any more and by
having local products at the farmers market the customer get the possibility to
buy their food directly from the producer. The second option was to build a
play area, where the children can spend their time, while their parents are
shopping. So it would be more attractive to families with little kids.
To hear the
owners feedback to our suggestions was very interesting and helpful to understand
how her business works.
